The Phoenix 250 was an action packed but cautioned filled event. The race came down to a battle between the Ganassi and SunTrust teams. In the end the Suntrust duo of Taylor and Angelelli prevailed in their Pontiac Riley. | There were two Grand Am Cup races at Phoenix International Raceway. Round four of the Grand Am championship saw the season's fourth different Daytona Prototype class winners. The highly touted Ganassi team captured their first victory of the series with the duo of Papis and Pruett. | The Grand Sports and Sports Touring classes raced together at Mont-Tremblant. The event provided a couple of firsts. The Lexus team captured their first win of the 2004 season in the ST class and the GS victory was the first for Cadillac. |

DriftNation held their DX-2 Drift Exhibition at the Mosport Oval. On hand to entertain the fans of this new form of motorsport were some of the stars of the D1 Grand Prix series. Championship regulars included the Signal and Drift Xtreme Teams. |

Max Papis and Scott Pruett scored their second consecutive victory in the Daytona Prototype class at Watkins Glen. A sticking throttle early in the race forced them to make up two laps. | The Glen 250 was another Grand Am Cup event in which the Grand Sports and Sports Touring cars competed together. ALMS qualifying at Mid Ohio suggested some close competition. However, this only proved true in the GT class as many pre-race favourites experienced difficulties during the event. | Michael Galati captured the World Challenge GT win at Mid Ohio ending his nearly two year winless streak. He was followed very closely by his teammate Randy Pobst and John Heinricy in a Cadillac. | Matt Plumb recorded two firsts at Mid Ohio – his first World Challenge victory and the first win for the Acura TSX. Although he qualified on the pole it was a hard-earned win, as he had to pass Nic Jonsson midway through the race. |

Despite his plans to run a partial season Paul Gentilozzi padded to his Trans Am championship points lead with a win at Trois-Rivieres in the Rocketsports Jaguar XKR. The GTO/GTU championship that accommodates all types of sedans and the Touring series for cars that are required to adhere to rules similar to World Challenge. | New for the 2004 race season and unique to Quebec is the Toyota Echo Pirelli Cup. The original championship was launched in 1976 with the Honda Civic Hatchback. During its 17-year run the series attracted more than 400 drivers. The Dyson team outpaced Champion Racing in qualifying but the Audi team captured the ALMS win at Mosport. | The World Challenge weekend at Mosport was a double header for the GT class cars. Michael Galati in an Audi won on Saturday with local favourite Ron Fellows capturing the victory in a Cadillac on Sunday. | Matt Plumb in an Acura TSX avoided the turn one incident on the first lap at Mosport and then took advantage of a mistake by race leader James Sofronas to take his second career World Challenge Touring Car win. |

The final round of the Honda/Michelin series took place at Mosport on October 3. There were four drivers with a mathematical chance of capturing the title. In the end it Steven Laporte who won not only the battle but also the war. |

The final round of the 2004 ALMS championship marked a unique event for Laguna Seca as the track hosted a four hour race that concluded in the dark. | Two World Challenge GT championships were on the line at Laguna Seca. The manufacturer's title was between Cadillac and Audi and Tommy Archer and Michael Galati were contending for the driver's championship. The race concluded with the titles going to Audi and Archer. | The driver's title for the World Challenge Touring championship at Laguna Seca was still to be decided. Nic Jonsson trailed Bill Auberlen but would need an excellent finish and a bit of luck to capture the title. Despite his best efforts it was Auberlen who took the title. |

California Speedway hosted the final round of the Grand Am series. The Daytona Prototype title was between the Ganassi and SunTrust teams.
