Fourth fastest qualifier Ken McVicker spun shortly after the American Sedan group took the starter's flag. The field was able to avoid the local Camaro driver who was able to continue but retired later in the race finishing well down down the order. The championship was won by Andy McDermid in a Ford Mustang.

Pole sitter Wolfgang Maike in the No. 15 Toyota Paseo slips inside Michael Cyphert on the last lap of the race. Maike fell back to fourth during the event but moved up the order and past Cyphert when the latter driver's engine dropped a cylinder. Pete Peterson won the national GT3 title.

John Heinricy qualified second in Touring 1 driving the Phoenix Racing Chevrolet Corvette. During the very wet race Heinricy was able to lap the entire field and capture the national championship.

On the first lap of the Touring 2 race Doug Gamble in a BMW M3 ran in to the back of second place starter Mark Sandridge in the No. 49 Porsche Boxster. At the time Sandridge didn't realize that the exhaust system had been damaged. By the ninth lap he was overcome by exhaust fumes and the incident caused the car to catch fire.

One of the most controversial cars at the 2001 Runoffs was the C Sports Racer of Jacek Mucha. He qualified and finished second but after impound and the Court of Appeals he was moved to the last finishing position for a non-compliant floor pan. Starting from the pole Ben Beasley took the title.

The E Production group made it through the first corner without incident. Pole sitter Pratt Cole in the No. 99 Mazda Miata led from start to finish. Beside him is the second fastest qualifier Grayson Upchurch in a Nissan 240SX. Immediately behind them is Bob Endicott in the No. 9 Honda Prelude.

Kyle Krisiloff son of former Indy car driver Steve Krisiloff qualified fifth in a Van Diemen RF01. Krisiloff passed pole sitter Keith Nunes on the ninth lap and never looked back to capture the Formula Ford national title.

Ron Bartell the defending H Production champion had things well under control from the beginning of the event. He qualified on the pole during the first session and was almost a second faster than the next car driven by Brian Linn. The driver of the No. 1 MG Midget led every lap of the race.

Larry Connor qualified second in his Ralt RT-41 but was able to take the lead on the second lap of the Formula Atlantic race. Connor appeared to have things well in hand until late in the race when his left rear upright began to fail. He had to slow down and took the checker flag first by a margin of .129 seconds.

Spec Racer Ford competitor Richard Spicer qualified on the pole, however, he fell to third early in the race. Spicer was able to move back out front for laps three to seven but wasn't able to make it stick until lap fifteen. He led the race from that point on and took the national title.

Joe Huffaker in the No. 11 MG Midget and Rick Haynes in a similar model run nose to tail through the Esses. Fourth place qualifier Huffaker moved to the lead on the thirteenth lap and captured the F Production national championship. Haynes spun off with brake problems and was classified twenty-fifth.
